The Office of Homeland Security has made it possible to transfer to Ukraine 13 “5.11 Tactical” jackets and 12 lace-up boots, 20 fleece jackets, one unmanned aerial vehicle with bag and battery, three remote controls, one of which has a photo mode function.

It is also planned to hand over two binoculars and one metal detector.

On the other hand, referring to the request for help from the Ukrainian government institutions for the necessary provision of office and computer equipment, the Information Center of the Ministry of the Interior (IeM) created the opportunity to hand over 845 computers, including portable ones, 269 monitors and four processors.

The equipment will be received by the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, the State Administration of the Bilotserkiv District of the Kyiv Region, the Kyiv National Military University and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.

IeM explains that the “Windows 10” operating system is basically used in the institutions subordinate to it, but the developer “Microsoft” has determined that from October 14, 2025, the “Windows 10” operating system will not receive any software corrections. This, in turn, will significantly increase the risks of information protection and processing, especially for institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, whose IT infrastructure has a high probability of cyber threats, the ministry says.

In order to avoid this threat, the center has started to gradually restore computers to workstations that are compatible with the latest version of the operating system – “Windows 11”. According to the calculations, by October 14, 2025, approximately 4,000 computers that do not support the “Windows 11” version must be replaced.

“Given the constantly high risks of cyber threats, the institutions of the Ministry of the Interior cannot afford to take risks and massively use computers with operating systems that have a number of known vulnerabilities,” emphasizes IeM.

At the same time, a large part of the computer equipment to be replaced, despite their service life – more than five years – is in working order and can be safely reused until October 14, 2025, as well as after that in places where cyber security requirements are lower, or offline, explains IeM.

On the other hand, the useful life of the monitors transferred without compensation has ended, that is, they have been operated for more than five years. Although they are in working order, their dimensions do not meet the needs of users – intensive and long-term work, the ministry explains.

IeM states that the balance value of computers, monitors and processors to be transferred to Ukraine is 0 euros.

The IeM Information Center has concluded that the transfer of the mentioned equipment will not affect the operation of the institutions, the performance of the specified functions and their quality.
