/ The Turkish Statistical Authority announced on Wednesday that Iraq ranked third among the countries that imported the most from Turkey in December of last year, indicating that exports increased by 0.4% and Turkish imports decreased by 11.0%.

The authority stated, in a report seen by Shafak News Agency, that “Turkey’s exports for the month of December amounted to 23 billion dollars, recording an increase of 0.4 percent, compared to the same month in 2022,” indicating that “Turkey’s imports in December recorded 29 billion and 39 million dollars, a decrease of 11%, compared to the same period in 2022.”

She added that “Iraq came third in Turkey’s exports to the countries of the world during the month of December, with a value of one billion and 254 million dollars, while Germany was the main partner country for exports with one billion and 679 million dollars, followed by the United States of America in second place with one billion and 314 million dollars, then the United Kingdom in fourth place with one billion and 217 million dollars, and Italy came in fifth place with one billion and 22 million dollars,” indicating that “the percentage of the first five countries of total exports amounted to 28.2% in December of last year 2023.”

Iraq imports most of its goods, merchandise and food from neighboring countries, especially Turkey and Iran, and to a lesser extent from the Gulf States and Jordan.
