More than a mural, “your corner”

These days, and coincidentally from the named Capital of Culture of Artemisa, San Antonio de los Baños, a street 229 years after the creation of this Town, becomes more popular among those of us who consume the social network Facebook or walk the Ariguanabo.

A mural motivates glances, surprises, reunions, desires, and above all, it invites us to rethink what we contribute today from the place where we are to add “color and love” to our daily lives.

That street, on 45th Avenue, between 76 and 74, is now a tree with fruits capable of radiating within itself a family project of artists and craftsmen from the Villa del Humor.

Those already known as Barro sin Berro, this time, put aside that day-to-day production and sales, to enter the hearts of children; to transcend and stay among many grateful families; to teach them how to shape more than just a rough material, their time and their environment into being useful.

It will never be the same street again, nor will they be the same as they are also in that little piece of their city; And of that, of transforming even a small piece of the place where we walk, whether at work or in the neighborhood, I invite you from this Ariguanabese initiative, and if we add those who we name “the hope of the world”, gratitude will grow.

Yes, I know! There are deficiencies, many even. How about we put them aside? Let’s think about grandparents, so humble and neat, as courteous and brave at the same time.

The resources are insignificant and the budgets ineffective, another painful truth. Let’s dismiss them and count on everyone’s will!

It is also true that people are in a bad mood, whether because of the blackout, even if the difficult situation is understood; the queue for any need or the reckless neighbor or always bitter coworker; but… if we add to that the fact that we live with dirt and work in a scruffy space, the good vibes will escape us. We agree, right?

Some will have to be invited, convinced or compromised. Let’s just think if the 18,000 self-employed workers that Artemisa has and the more than 400 MSMEs, one day out of thirty of the month, dedicate themselves to their little bit beyond the physical space of producing or providing services, and thus give the extra for the place where we grow.

To this list, which is not inconsiderable, we can add artists and creators, institutions that work in favor of the environment, schools of all educations, political and also mass organizations, and as many good hearts as there are, not to criticize but to do. It will be counted on with inestimable strength!

Others will have to be questioned, demanded and controlled more, not just outside, because Artemisa has a pitiful outlook within many entities, unable to believe the “Good morning” at the beginning of the day.

And that terrible example, of unkemptness and carelessness, lacking the slightest cleanliness, with dark places, broken furniture, windows with more pity than clarity, the constant leak, the documents everywhere and the wiring capable of electrocuting any good service, what We move the population, and much worse, the little ones see it. What result do we expect?

It will never be that of Barro sin cress, that of feeling proud to transcend in that generation full of dreams and achievements, that of being an example to imitate.

Today was already bequeathed to us, and it is true, most of us live in the present in a hurry, but on the way home, next to the beautiful mural by Maday and her team, we cross the puddle, the sidewalk with weeds, the micro-landfill, the rubble of any sanitation to be completed, in the midst of so much nonsense we are forging the future as sad and precarious, and if we look into our consciences and responsibilities, we all have our corner there.
