More than a third of voters voted in KBR on the first day of elections

More than a third of all voters in Kabardino-Balkaria have already gone to the polls on the first day of voting, September 17. According to the election commission of the KBR, by the time the polling stations were closed on Friday evening, almost 200 thousand people had already cast their votes – more than 35 percent of the total number of voters in the region.

– According to the data of the Republican Election Commission, the turnout at the elections of deputies to the State Duma and local self-government bodies as of 16:00 was 16.98 percent, 91,326 voters voted. By 20.00, the figure had doubled – 189,679 people or 35.21 percent, the election commission of Kabardino-Balkaria reported.

On the morning of September 18, the head of the region, Kazbek Kokov, also voted at his site in gymnasium No. 1 in Nalchik.

– All conditions for the voter, for the expression of the will of citizens have been created in the republic today. What the authorities, in accordance with their powers, were supposed to provide, they provided, all possible institutions for observation have been created. The Center for Public Observation operates, just yesterday I visited and watched, 80 percent of the sites are provided with video surveillance, – said Kokov.

In total, there are 355 precinct election commissions in Kabardino-Balkaria, and the total number of voters in the region is 539,108 people. On a single voting day in 2021, the KBR is to elect deputies of the State Duma, as well as 122 settlements.
