Torrents of tears greeted the screening of More than ever, by Franco-German filmmaker Emily Atef (3 days in Quiberon), Saturday in the Debussy room. Everything was a little mixed up, the story of this melodrama (Vicky Krieps plays Hélène, a young woman suffering from an incurable lung disease, which is burning up before our eyes) and the presence for the last time on the screen of the one who plays her husband Mathieu, the actor Gaspard Ulliel, who died in January at the age of 38 in a skiing accident.
A few moments of plenitude before death, of amniotic communion with nature, is what the film intends to offer Hélène by taking her to the fjords of Norway, against her husband’s advice, to live her last moments. Vicky Krieps is nothing but a perfectly modulated vibrato of emotion, giving all the grace possible to this journey of the condemned woman wishing to die out as she sees fit.
