More than half of the Russian Olympic team were vaccinated against COVID-19

President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov said that more than half of the athletes of the Russian Olympic team had been vaccinated against coronavirus. According to him, a fairly large number of Olympians have natural immunity after suffering from COVID-19 disease. The Russian team included 335 athletes.

“More than half of our athletes have been vaccinated, some are finishing preparing for the second vaccination. Given the fact that a fairly large number already have natural immunity after suffering an illness, we believe that Russian athletes have a certain degree of protection against coronavirus, ”said Mr. Pozdnyakov on the Russia 24 TV channel.

The Tokyo Olympics will take place from July 23 to August 8. At the same time, from July 12 to August 22, an emergency situation is in force in Tokyo due to COVID-19, and the organizing committee of the Games decided to ban fans from attending the competition. The ticket program, which was supposed to bring in $ 815 million, was completely disrupted.
