Morena and allies add up to 46 seats in the local Congress

During the installation of the III Legislature and the swearing-in of the 66 deputies of the Mexico City Congressthe president of the Board of Directors, Martha Ávila Ventura, reported on the formation of the different parliamentary groups, as well as the alliances, where she highlighted that of the Morena bloc with the Progressive Parliamentary Association of Transformation and the Parliamentary Association of Women for Inclusive Feminist Commerce.

With these alliances, the Parliamentary Group of Morena and its allies reaches a total of 46 legislative representatives in the Plenary Session of the Congress of Mexico City, thus exceeding the qualified majority of 44 votes required.

Following the installation of the Third Legislature, the congresswoman of the Democratic Revolution, Nora Arias, stated that she does not consider her adherence to the work of the Transformation as a betrayal, since she assured that she will work in favor of the interests of the population.

For his part, Andrés Atayde, coordinator of the parliamentary faction of National Action, said that despite the fact that Morena and its allies have the majority in the plenary session, the opposition will continue working to generate reforms in favor of citizens.

However, the PAN member added that although he respects the decisions of his fellow legislators, he believes that it is turning his back on those who voted for them by being part of the opposition.
