He Congress of Quintana Roo approved with 19 votes in favor and two against a reform to the Organic Law of the Legislative Power, driven by parliamentary groups National Regeneration Movement (Brunette) and Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), which modifies the structure of the Governing Board y Political Coordination (Jugocopo) in the XVIII Legislature, to be integrated on September 3, allowing only the two parties with the largest number of deputies to occupy the leadership of the same, excluding the participation of a third party as previously stipulated.

The reform was carried out in a session where the deputies of the Labor Party (PT) were absent, when they are the third force in the next legislature.

According to the new regulations, the presidency of the Jugocopo The presidency will be shared between the two parties with the largest representation during the three-year term of the legislature. The order in which these parties will exercise the presidency will be determined by an agreement to be established once the Board has been formed, in addition to the fact that the restriction that prevented the president of the Board from also leading the board of directors of the legislature has been eliminated.

The deputy of the National Action Party (PAN), Cynthia Millán Star, expressed her dissatisfaction with the approval of this reform. Millán Estrella criticized that the modification excludes minority political forces from the internal decisions of Congress, which, according to her, goes against the principles of representation and plurality that should govern a legislative body.

“This reform has no justification if the majority is already in place, Why not open the debate and work together? “What was approved today only benefits two groups in power, leaving out the rest,” he said.
