The meeting of the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies in which the disappearance of seven autonomous bodies will be discussed and voted on, could be postponed, said the vice-coordinator of Morena, Leonel Godoy.
He explained that the meeting for this Friday is still valid, but they are “open” to the possibility of postponing the discussion.
The reason, he explained Godoy, The fact is that they have a lot of work to do in the Commission, and the reform that proposes the disappearance of the self-employed would mean a very long session. In light of this, he stressed that the priority at this time is the approval of the reform to the Judicial Branch and assured that if it is postponed, the debate on the modification to the PJ would not be brought forward.
“That is not going to happen, what could happen is to postpone the autonomous bodies, it could be, we are analyzing it, due to all the reservations and everything… We are looking at the issue because it is very complicated.remember that there are seven organisms”.
He assured that, although the constitutive session of Congress will be held on Thursday, as established by the Ley, There will be time to discuss and vote on the disappearance of the institutions.
“We have Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, until when is the first one? (…) we have until Saturday,” he said.
Regarding the statement made by the United States ambassador, Ken Salazar, that the judicial reform puts the bilateral trade relationship at risk, Godoy said that is not the case.
He insisted that with the modifications to the Federal Judicial Branch What is sought is to strengthen the autonomy and independence of this power.
“It is the only thing we are doing and that is good for any foreign investment in the country, what we are looking for is precisely that foreign investments have certainty from the justice bodies in Mexico, they will resolve according to the law and the Constitution”, and ruled out that what was expressed by the American diplomat will stop or pause the discussion of the reform of the Judiciary.
Among the autonomous bodies proposed by President López Obrador for elimination are: The National Institute for Access to Information and Data Protection (Inai); the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT); the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece); the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE); the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) and the National Electoral Institute (INE).
