Morena seeks to convince the PRI to vote in favor of judicial reform

In view of the discussion of judicial reform in the Senate of the Republic, Adam Augusto Lopezcoordinator of the Morena senators, said that he has sought to convince the PRI members to vote in favor of the judicial reform, proposed by President López Obrador.

“I have talked, we are talking about the PRI, I have talked with some of them. We have tried to convince them of the historical significance that would be in supporting the reform of the Judicial Branch,” he said.

After holding a meeting with Claudia Sheinbaumpresident-elect, the senator insisted that the Morena bench is not making any offer of money or positions, so that the opposition senators vote in favor of the Fourth Transformation initiative.

“The two fellow senators (from the PRD) who joined the Morena bench, the senator Araceli (Saucedo) y Sabino Herrerathey joined the parliamentary group, and when the presidencies of the Commissions (in the Senate) were going to be announced unanimously, all of our colleagues told them that in gratitude and recognition they would each have a Commission presidency, and it was fulfilled,” he said upon leaving the Sheinbaum transition house.

As to whether Morena’s strategy to approve the judicial reformis to reduce the presence of opposition senators, Adán Augusto rejected the statement, and insisted that they will seek to convince several opposition senators to vote in favor of judicial reform.

“We hope to convince one or two (senators), several of the senators who are members of other political parties, that they can support judicial reform in a reasoned and conscious manner,” he stressed.
