The Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, reported through a televised interview that in August 2023 El Salvador received 2.2 million visitors, surpassing 2019 with more than 25% and 2022 with 33%.
“We have closed August of this year with 2.2 million visitors, equivalent to more than $2.1 billion in foreign exchange earnings. We have exceeded 2019 by 25% and 2022 by 35%,” said the head of Tourism.
According to the Tourism official, the reasons for visiting El Salvador for the second and third generation of Salvadorans are security, Surf City and Bitcoin.
“The head of Tourism, Morena Valdez, says that as of August, 75% of the visitor projection for this year has been reached,” said the Press Secretariat.
