The Minister of Transportation of the National Unity Government, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, revealed that Moroccan and Jordanian airlines will soon return to Libya.

Al-Shahoubi added, in a statement to Al-Ahrar Today, that the return of Turkish Airlines to Libya after an absence of about 10 years is equivalent to the return of other international companies to Libya, according to him.

The Minister announced that Turkish Airlines has returned to operating, starting with 3 flights per week from Mitiga, and that it will soon launch its flights with (Benina, Misrata and Sabha) airports.

On March 23, the head of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, announced the return of Turkish Airlines air traffic to and from Libya starting next week, after a hiatus that lasted about 10 years.

Al-Dabaiba, in a tweet on his account on the X platform today, described this step as an additional indicator of enhancing stability, as he put it.

For his part, the Minister of Transportation in the Unity Government, Muhammad Al-Shahoubi, explained that the lines will return to Mitiga Airport first, and will resume at the rest of the airports successively, according to him.

On February 19, the Minister of Transportation and the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Kanan Yilmaz, agreed to accelerate the necessary procedures from the two countries in preparation for the return of Turkish Airlines and the resumption of its flights to Libyan airports.

In January 2015, Turkish Airlines announced the suspension of its flights to the country due to “the continued deterioration of the security situation.”
