Clearly visible at the heart of the Show on an area of 180 m², the Moroccan pavilion inaugurated on Friday by the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, brings together the latest creations of national artisans, including interior design products, pottery and ceramics, carpets, zellige and home decoration accessories.
“It is extremely important for Morocco to be present at this event, which is one of the largest interior design and object fairs,” said Ms. Ammor in a statement to MAP on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony which took place in the presence of Tarik Sadik, general director of the Maison de l’Artisan which organizes the national participation, in addition to officials of the fair.
For the minister, Morocco’s participation, which is not the first in this international fair, is “an opportunity for us to be able to give the opportunity to artisans and companies in the sector to present their creations.”
“Today, there is really a growing demand for Moroccan craftsmanship,” she noted, expressing satisfaction at seeing Moroccan designers giving their best to present an offer that meets this demand.
Mrs. Ammor stressed, in this regard, that this type of fair allows them to get in touch with renowned buyers with a view to increasing exports of Moroccan crafts which amount to more than one billion dirhams over the past 2 years.
Hence the importance for the minister to be present at international trade fairs, and more particularly “Maison et Objet” which is held in France, “a very important country for the promotion of Moroccan crafts, especially since it is the second largest importer of crafts after the United States”.
Abounding in the same sense, the DG of the Maison de l’Artisan said he was proud of the presence of Moroccan craftsmanship in this important meeting of the world calendar of trade fairs.
Mr. Sadik already mentions “the success” of the Moroccan participation in view of the number of visitors, mainly professionals, potential buyers, designers and architects, who flock to the national stand, interested in the offer of Moroccan companies and cooperatives, presenting 100% handmade products, from several regions of Morocco, Marrakech, Fez, Essaouira, Tangier.
“This participation is directly in line with our strategy to promote Moroccan crafts. Today we exceed one billion in exports of craft products, not counting purchases by tourists visiting Morocco. This increasingly confirms the appetite of national and international customers for our products,” he said.
It took his team several months of preparation to ensure this presence at the “Maison et Objet” show, between designing a Moroccan pavilion inviting travel and selecting exhibitors and products so that the offer was “in line with the trend”.
For the Maison de l’Artisan, the “Maison et Objet” Show represents an ideal B to B platform for professionals who wish to stock up on craft products.
The institution, which invited eight exhibitors to present on its stand a national offer as rich as it is diversified, reflecting the image of the sector, is counting on Moroccan participation in this international event to allow Moroccan craft companies to “get in touch with the most important players in the ecosystem of the design and decoration community”.
Approached by MAP, exhibitors, some of whom are participating in an international trade fair for the first time, welcomed this initiative which gives them visibility and the opportunity to fill their order books.
“We aim to help Moroccan companies get through the door, and create more visibility for handmade products (#Moroccohandmade), thus increasing their market share internationally, particularly the European and French arena,” assures the Maison de l’Artisan in presentation of the Moroccan pavilion.
The institution, which falls under the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, has the mission of supporting producers and brands of Moroccan crafts to promote themselves and develop on foreign markets.
She places particular importance on market access for Moroccan craft operators by designing conquest strategies to distinguish themselves among the world’s biggest brands, by constantly collaborating with key buyers and advancing them in sales cycles.
Organised twice a year, the “Maison et Objet” trade fair is an unmissable event in the decoration and design sector, bringing together all the players in the art of living – brands, designers, craftspeople and home experts.
More than 2,300 exhibitors from 147 countries are taking part in this event, according to the organizers.
Covering 120,000 m², the show is structured around two areas: “Home” with four spaces dedicated to decoration, objects from around the world and a selection of luxury furniture, and “Object” divided into seven spaces including kitchen specialties, a children’s area and an area bringing together fashion accessories.
In addition to its physical component, Maison et Objet also deploys an electronic platform MOM (Maison & Objet & More) for the benefit of professionals in decoration, design or the art of living. This B2B platform references more than 3,000 brands.
In 2023, the show welcomed 67,429 visitors, 47% of whom were international.
