Moroccan-Egyptian talks on strengthening cooperation between tourism stakeholders of the two countries
Cairo – The Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima Zahra Ammor, met, Monday in Cairo, with the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, on the strengthening cooperation between tourism stakeholders from the two countries.
During this meeting, attended by the Moroccan ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative of the Kingdom to the League of Arab States, Mohamed Ait Ouali, the two parties welcomed the ties of cooperation and friendship uniting Morocco and Egypt and explored the different avenues of cooperation in the tourism sector.
Emphasis was also placed on the promotion, investment and development of seaside products.
Given the good respective tourism performances of the two countries which place them at the top of the African continent, the two ministers also discussed joint and complementary efforts which would allow the two countries to rise among the largest world destinations.
Ms. Ammor then visited several tourism projects in Hurghada, Al Gouna and Sharm El Sheikh, and met, in this context, actors from the Egyptian private sector, as well as institutions to discuss the Egyptian experience in terms of seaside tourism.
Accompanied by the Director General of the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT), Imad Barrakad, the minister insisted on the exceptional momentum that Morocco is experiencing in the tourism sector, reiterating the Moroccan government’s commitment to supporting partnerships enabling acceleration of the development of tourism in the country, in order to achieve the ambitious objective of 26 million tourist arrivals by 2030.
