Moroccan Embassy in Kenya Celebrates Throne Day

The ceremony, which was enhanced by the presence of eminent personalities, ambassadors of brotherly and friendly countries, as well as members of the Moroccan community residing in Kenya, was an opportunity to highlight the achievements accomplished by the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI since his enthronement.

In a speech on this occasion, Mr. Abderrazzak Laassel, Moroccan Ambassador to Kenya, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), highlighted Morocco’s flagship achievements under the enlightened leadership of the sovereign, citing in particular the modernization of infrastructure, with emblematic projects such as the Tangier-Med Port and the high-speed train.

The Moroccan diplomat also highlighted Morocco’s commitment to the development of renewable energy, with the Noor solar complex in Ouarzazate, one of the largest in the world. Flagship social reforms, such as the Family Code and the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), were also highlighted by Mr. Laassel.

Regarding relations between Morocco and Kenya, the Moroccan ambassador stressed that they have experienced a new boom thanks to the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Kenyan President William Ruto.

In addition to the opening of a Kenyan embassy in Rabat and the development of trade between the two countries, Mr. Laassel highlighted the fruitful cooperation in the field of education, through the granting of scholarships to Kenyan students, as well as the training of Kenyan Imams in Morocco.
