The choice of Moroccan cinema is motivated by the desire to promote the rich and diverse Moroccan culture and its specificities to the Jordanian public, and to contribute to the rapprochement and further strengthening of the bonds of friendship and fraternity between the two peoples and the two countries, we learned from the organizers.

“We decided to shine the spotlight on Moroccan film in order to bring Moroccan film culture closer to Jordanian film lovers,” Huda Qamhiyeh, head of the Cinema Commission at the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, told MAP.

She wanted to highlight the development of the Moroccan 7th art as well as the quality and professionalism of Moroccan cinematographic works, noting that the Foundation has already welcomed several Moroccan professionals, including film critics.

Thus, three films by director Abdelilah El-Jaouhary will be screened. These are the feature-length fiction film “The Slave” (May 28), the feature-length documentary “Raja Bent Al-Mellah” (May 29) and the feature-length film “Hala Madrid… Visca Barça” (May 30).

An interactive meeting between the audience and the director is planned after each screening, said Ms. Qamhiyeh.

The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation is interested in cultural and social creativity as a means of contributing to the progress of societies in the Arab world in the various fields of literature, arts and innovation.
