During this convivial evening with Moroccan colors and rhythms, the kaftan parade was a true ode to beauty and elegance. Each of the four stylists participating in the event highlighted exquisite craftsmanship and meticulous embroidery that characterize this emblematic outfit of Moroccan heritage.

The sumptuous colours and sophisticated cuts transported the audience on a visual journey, celebrating Morocco’s cultural richness through a harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity. All this was accompanied by sublime images of the architectural heritage of the city of Rabat, broadcast on giant screens, as a backdrop.

Dressed by renowned Moroccan designers, such as Kacem Sahl, Nisrine Ezzaki Bakkali, Maha Bouzoubaa and Salima Elboussini, Moroccan and Kenyan models revealed a captivating elegance on the catwalk, thus revealing the grandeur of Moroccan clothing heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, Morocco’s Ambassador to Kenya, Abderrazzak Laassel, stressed that the event “is a celebration of the common human spirit and a testament to the deep-rooted ties and mutual appreciation that flourish between the Moroccan and Kenyan nations.”

The Kingdom of Morocco, a land of dazzling diversity and enduring traditions, presents a unique model in the world, a model rooted in the harmonious coexistence of cultures and faiths, the Moroccan diplomat said.

In a statement to MAP, Moroccan designer Nisrine Ezzaki Bakkali expressed her pride in bringing the timeless beauty of the Moroccan kaftan to the Kenyan public, noting that sharing the richness of the kaftan with a foreign audience, who welcomed it with such enthusiasm, was a defining moment in her career, proof that art transcends borders and that fashion can be a universal language of appreciation and mutual understanding.

Organized at the initiative of the Chamber of Crafts of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region, in partnership with the Region, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, this parade crowned a week during which Nairobians were able to discover up close the richness of Moroccan culture and traditions, through stands dedicated to crafts, local products and Moroccan artistic expressions.

Around thirty Moroccan artisans, Maâlems and designers (women and men) exhibited their artisanal products and know-how for seven days, highlighting the diversity and richness of artisanal trades in the Kingdom, from hand-woven carpets to elegant caftans and sparkling jewelry.
