Moroccan Sahara: Rachida Dati welcomes a historic day for Franco-Moroccan relations

“Honored to be present in Morocco on this historic day for Franco-Moroccan relations. This course of History is essential and irreversible. We are all its architects,” declared Ms. Dati on her X account.

The French minister, who attended the festivities marking the 25th anniversary of the Sovereign’s enthronement, paid tribute to His Majesty the King and the French head of state “for their ambitious visions”.

“Tributes are paid to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and to the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron for their ambitious visions for our two peoples who know that, from one shore of the Mediterranean to the other, our future can only be common. Long live the Kingdom of Morocco and Long live France!”, wrote Ms. Dati.

The message addressed to HM King Mohammed VI by French President Emmanuel Macron reinforces Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces, she told the press on the sidelines of the reception, chaired Tuesday in M’diq, by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the Throne Day.

The French minister expressed the hope that this new position of Paris would allow the development of important strategic partnerships for Morocco, for France but also for the European Union, recalling the historical links and friendship uniting Morocco and France.

In a message addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, it is recalled that the French President, Mr. Emmanuel Macron officially announced to the Sovereign that he “considers that the present and future of Western Sahara are part of Moroccan sovereignty.”
