Morocco, a “major” gateway for global trade (Bloomberg official)
Marrakech – Morocco is a major gateway for global trade, said Erik Schatzker, Editorial Director of “Bloomberg New Economy”, responsible for the prestigious eponymous conference organized on June 13 and 14 in Marrakech.
“Morocco is a major gateway for global trade and a leader in climate action,” said Mr. Schatzker in an interview with MAP at the closing of the “Gateway Africa” which held its first continental edition in Morocco.
On the continental level, Mr. Schatzker described Africa’s future as “promising” despite many forces transforming our economies, societies and the world, including climate change, technology, demographics and geopolitics. He added that issues of sustainability and resilience are now critical to the future of every country.
Speaking via videoconference on Tuesday at the opening of the Conference which brought together 200 world leaders, the Bloomberg boss expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for holding this event in Morocco, before highlighting the regional leadership of the Kingdom thanks to the enlightened Vision of the Sovereign.
Michael Bloomberg also noted Morocco’s role as a regional driving force, which makes the country the ideal choice to host the “Bloomberg New Economy Gateway Africa” event, and highlighted the Kingdom’s central position in resolving current global challenges, including the climate crisis.
