In the process of being generalized to all African countries, RASME (Appraisal Supervision Monitoring and Evaluation) uses a range of digital technologies to further improve project monitoring and evaluation processes, according to a press release from the AfDB.
Speaking on this occasion, the country manager of the African Development Bank for Morocco, Achraf Tarsim, affirmed that with RASME the collection of data on projects gains in speed, efficiency and cost, which will allow a better design and a good deployment of future operations of the Bank.
For his part, the Deputy Director of the Treasury and External Finances, Abdelkrim Achir, who represented the Ministry of Economy and Finance, stressed that “Morocco is an emerging country which aspires to new levels of growth with an accelerating pace of development.”
“This solution will help to contribute to this by providing reliable data to ensure more effective and efficient management of projects. Decision-making will be easier to serve development priorities,” he said.
Using mobile devices (smartphones), aerial or satellite images, the RASME IT solution makes it possible to collect precise and reliable data in real time to monitor the progress of projects in digital formats (data, photos, videos, maps, etc.), directly from the field.
The RASME solution is a continental initiative that illustrates the digital transition undertaken by the Bank to transform its operational processes. It is also an opportunity to consolidate the partnership between public project management units and the Bank’s sector experts.
The launching ceremony was marked by the start of a four-day training workshop bringing together more than 80 participants, including the Bank’s Moroccan partners and project managers based in Morocco.
The presentation of this new solution was followed by discussions on the possibilities offered by the different vectors of data collection and facilitation of the project monitoring and evaluation process.
