“Morocco has made remarkable progress in terms of political pluralism and economic and social development,” Zapatero stressed in a statement to MAP on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the enthronement of His Majesty the King.
“Morocco’s progress is very remarkable and modernization is extraordinarily intense at all levels,” he added, highlighting the “significant” advances made in various fields.
These advances have allowed the Kingdom of Morocco to enjoy great credibility within the international community and to consolidate its status as “the most reliable interlocutor in the region, both for Spain and for Europe, but also for the major international powers”, Mr. Zapatero maintained.
In this sense, he praised the “very important” role that the Kingdom plays in the development of Africa and the Sahel countries.
In this regard, he emphasized the commitment of His Majesty the King to dialogue, understanding and sharing, which make Morocco a haven of peace and stability.
Mr. Zapatero also welcomed the convergence of views between Madrid and Rabat in terms of defending just causes and human rights throughout the world.
“Morocco and Spain have always been committed to advancing the values of peace, cooperation and understanding. This is why it is so important for the world that Morocco and Spain set an example,” he insisted.
