“Morocco is obviously known as a paradise for tourists. From the heart of the medina of Marrakech to the edge of the Atlas, one cannot remain indifferent to the exotic charms of this country. However, many are unaware that Morocco is also a popular and increasingly popular hunting destination,” writes the French media, mainly focused on hunting and fishing, in an article under the title: “Morocco: a paradise for hunters.”

“Indeed, people hunt in Morocco, and even more and more. Given the species that can be hunted, a trip to these beautiful regions is likely to please beach lovers as much as Bermuda-wearing Nimrods,” they add.

Hunting in Morocco has experienced “significant expansion” in recent years, the author of the article also points out.

Quoting the Director General of the National Agency for Water and Forests, Abderrahim Houmy, the media outlet notes that the number of hunting rights leases has more than doubled in ten years, rising from 740 to more than 1,400.

In 2023, the Kingdom had around 70,000 hunters, the publication further notes, noting that the practice of tourist hunting is also on the rise.

“It must be said that Morocco has a key advantage in the face of international competition: the diversity of its biotopes. Maquis, mountains, marshes, wastelands, cereal fields, etc. There is something for everyone. This country has many picture-postcard landscapes,” it is emphasized.

He added: “In the Kingdom, both sedentary and migratory animals are hunted, but the country is especially renowned for its game birds”, citing in this category the turtledove, the woodcock, the quail, the gambra partridge, the thrush, the calandrella lark and the wood pigeon.

According to the French magazine, this bird density “is not the result of chance”, noting that Morocco is indeed “an important wintering and nesting area for many species”, and that ornithology enthusiasts “will therefore not need to be asked twice to undertake a little trip to this hunting El Dorado”. “We won’t be bored there”, marvels the French media, before concluding that “bird lovers can already get out their diaries and plan their next hunting trip!”
