Rabat – Morocco and Bulgaria are determined to strengthen their bilateral relations and establish a partnership that matches their ambitions, in accordance with the clear-sighted vision of HM King Mohammed VI, said, Wednesday in Rabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita.
During a joint press briefing with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mariya Gabriel, following their talks, Mr. Bourita stressed the need to adapt the institutional framework of these relations so that it supports the ambitions of the two countries, and to modernize the legal framework to bring it into line with the defined priorities.
In this sense, the minister highlighted the importance of focusing on priority areas for both Morocco and Bulgaria, including food security, renewable energy and cultural sectors, recalling the celebration by the two countries of the sixtieth anniversary of their diplomatic relations which have always been based on sincere friendship, dialogue, solidarity and cooperation.
After welcoming the solidity of the relations uniting the two countries, Mr. Bourita noted that Morocco considers Bulgaria, in accordance with the vision of His Majesty the King, a key player for the stability of the Balkan region and an influential country within the European Union (EU), and on the relations between the EU countries and the neighboring countries, particularly in the southern Mediterranean basin.
The talks with Ms. Mariya Gabriel also focused on ways to strengthen relations in the consular field, the minister said, noting that it was agreed to soon form a joint consular commission responsible for human exchanges and the fight against human trafficking mafias and illegal migration, two issues that Morocco treats with a high sense of responsibility.
