The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the Morocco Gaming Expo, the first edition of which opened this Friday in the capital, was initialed by the Secretary General of the Department of Communication under the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, Abdelaziz El Bouzdaini, and the French Ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier, in the presence of the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.
In a statement to the press, Mr. Bensaid stressed the importance of this partnership to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of video games, highlighting the need for training to establish a real gaming industry in Morocco, as well as the incubation of Moroccan startups and SMEs operating in this field.
“This important partnership with the French embassy will also allow us to develop this gaming industry that we want to establish in the Kingdom today,” he declared.
The minister also added that this initiative aims to create incubators capable of helping these startups to grow further in order to integrate the global market and attract international investors, stressing the importance of these partnerships for Moroccan startups.
For his part, Mr. Lecourtier welcomed Morocco’s commitment to the gaming sector, saying that this convention represents a timely opportunity for the two countries to pool their skills and resources in order to promote innovation and creativity.
“For a long time, Minister Bensaid has been promoting this issue of cultural and creative industries and the Cité du gaming, which is a magnificent project,” he declared.
The French ambassador also expressed the enthusiasm of the French companies already present at the Morocco Gaming Expo, and their willingness to meet Moroccan partners and bring many projects to fruition.
He also added that France supports this initiative, also stressing the importance of training and entrepreneurship to create added value.
