Morocco: Award-winning African films will be screened at the Pan-African Cinema Days (responsible)

Rabat, March 12, 2023 (AIB)- Award-winning films in Africa will be screened with free access to the public during the 1st edition of the Pan-African Cinema Days scheduled for March 12-16 in Rabat, said this Sunday, Director General of the Hiba Foundation Marwane Fachane.

“This week the public of Rabat and elsewhere, has a very special appointment. A selection of award-winning films in Africa have been programmed with free access to the public”, said this Sunday in Rabat, the director general of the Hiba Foundation Marwane Fachane.

“Some directors present with us will allow an exchange with the Moroccan public before and after the screenings”, he continued.

Mr. Fachane also underlined that “students in the cinema sectors of the different schools and institutes of the kingdom will benefit from four master classes given by big names in African cinema”.

“Finally, all the members of the professional delegation have a rich program, somewhat busy but guaranteeing a space dedicated to exchanges, sharing and co-construction”, he promised.

The Director General of the Hiba Foundation Marwane Fachane spoke this Sunday during the opening ceremony of the 1st edition of Roots Rabat-Days of Pan-African Cinema.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Medhi Bensaid.

Minister Bensaid welcomed “all African filmmakers brothers and sisters” and thanked them for their perseverance and commitment to the development of the African cinema sector.

The 1st edition of Roots Rabat-Journées du Cinéma Panafricain will be held from Sunday 12 to Thursday 16 March 2023 in Rabat, African capital of culture under the High Patronage of His Majesty the King of Morocco Mohammed VI, may God glorify him.

Screening of the film Tikitat-A-Soulima by Moroccan director Ayoub Layoussifi

It was created thanks to a partnership between the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the Hiba Foundation.

The opening ceremony was also marked by a concert by Moroccan artist Majid Bekkas followed by screenings of the films Tikitat-A-Soulima by Moroccan director Ayoub Layoussifi and Touki-Bouki by Senegalese director Djibril Diop Mambéty.
