The list of winners, in the different categories, was announced following an interview Tuesday between the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, and the commissions in charge of reading and of the evaluation of the works competing for this 54th edition, under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohamed Kenbib, indicates a press release from the ministry.
Thus, this edition’s Poetry Prize was awarded to Ahmed Lemsyeh for his collection “An Island in the Sky”, while the Narration Prize went to Abdelilah Rabhi for his novel “Arrakim Al Akhir”.
The Human Sciences Prize was awarded ex aequo to Abdelahad Sebti for his book “From the year of the elephant to the year of the “Marican”: Oral memory and historical codification”, and to Al Ghali Aharchaou for his work ” Language and knowledge: studies on the acquisition and learning of Arabic”.
Researcher Ahmed El Jerti won the Prize for Literary, Artistic and Linguistic Studies for his book “Migration from deconstruction to Arab criticism between universality and bias: Study on modes of reception and issues”.
The Prize for Studies on Amazigh Culture was won by Mohamed Yeou for his book “Amazigh-French Dictionary: Parler de Figuig”, while the children’s and youth book prize was shared between Abdessamie Bensaber for his book “Les Couleurs Tteases ” and Al Houssaine Bahouch (alias Yassin Bahouch, his pen name) for his work “Marwa’s Telephone”.
The Prizes for social sciences, translation and Amazigh literature were not awarded.
The Morocco Book Prize is an important annual event celebrating Moroccan literature and its authors.
Created in 1968, it rewards the best works in the fields of creation, research and translation.
Last March, the Government Council adopted a draft decree modifying and supplementing the decree creating the Morocco Book Prize, aimed at the development of this important cultural event, by increasing its financial value to 200,000 DH instead of 120,000 DH for each winner.
