Amid the invasion of Gaza, Morocco closes a billion-dollar deal with Israel to receive a spy satellite.

Morocco recently signed a contract worth about one billion dollars with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for the purchase of a spy satellite, according to defense industry sources and news articles from Israel and France. The transaction was completed in recent days and the satellite is expected to be delivered in five years, replacing the current Mohammed VI-A and Mohammed VI-B satellites, manufactured by Airbus.

The current agreement, although it shows silence in relation to the French government, indicates rapprochement with Israel. It was part of a series of reconciliations between Arab countries and Israel, known as the Abrahamic Pacts. Signed in 2020, these agreements aim to recognize the Zionist State and stabilize governmental and economic relations between Israel and several Arab countries, including Morocco, which already maintain relations with the State. The signing of the agreement took place in the middle of a heavy Israeli offensive in Gaza, which has caused an escalation of violence and more than 180,000 deaths of Palestinians. Despite the humanitarian crisis, Morocco decided to continue with the purchase and put another billion dollars into Israel’s genocide machine.
