Morocco recently signed a contract worth about one billion dollars with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for the purchase of a spy satellite, according to defense industry sources and news articles from Israel and France. The transaction was completed in recent days and the satellite is expected to be delivered in five years, replacing the current Mohammed VI-A and Mohammed VI-B satellites, manufactured by Airbus.

As you said Calcalist Israeli newspaper, the agreement is confidential until its signature, and the negotiation has the direct participation of the president of the IAI management board, Amir Peretz, who traveled to Morocco through a European country to complete the transaction. Him French newspaper The gallery He also confirmed the choice of the IAI of Rabat, over the French companies Airbus and Thales, which have provided previous satellites.

Historically, Morocco received its intelligence satellites from Airbus, a Franco-German company, and Thales, another European giant. The decision to turn these suppliers into an Israeli company marks a major change in the country’s security relations. This change is part of the diplomatic crisis that has been rising between Morocco and France, which means visa restrictions too, for the development of the immigrant and Arab policies of the European country.

The current agreement, although it shows silence in relation to the French government, indicates rapprochement with Israel. It was part of a series of reconciliations between Arab countries and Israel, known as the Abrahamic Pacts. Signed in 2020, these agreements aim to recognize the Zionist State and stabilize governmental and economic relations between Israel and several Arab countries, including Morocco, which already maintain relations with the State. Israel only through private diplomacy.

The signing of the agreement took place in the middle of a heavy Israeli offensive in Gaza, which has caused an escalation of violence and more than 180,000 deaths of Palestinians. Despite the humanitarian crisis, Morocco decided to continue with the purchase and put another billion dollars into Israel’s genocide machine.

Morocco’s decision to continue its negotiations with Israel, even during the Gaza invasion, is not an isolated act among Arab governments. The purchase of satellites is not the beginning of renewal, and the Abraham Accords are not the beginning of these regimes’ betrayal of the Palestinian cause. To better understand this power, we recommend reading the article Arab League and the enemies of the cause of Palestine. Also, the text Maher Al-Akhras and the Paths to the Liberation of Palestine offers a perspective on the possible paths to the liberation of Palestine in the midst of many deceptions.
