by times news cr

Morocco has managed to dismantle an international car theft network, announcing the arrest of 3 foreigners holding French, Spanish and Senegalese nationalities on suspicion of their involvement in a case related to the international smuggling of stolen cars.

According to the Hespress website, “the Moroccan gendarmerie forces intervened at the territorial center of Laayoune, following accurate information provided to them, and were able, following an ambush at the northern entrance to the city of Laayoune, to arrest the suspects who were on board two cars with French license plates. Upon subjecting them to technical expertise, it was found that they were fake and were the subject of a theft report in Europe.”

According to the website, “The investigations and inquiries conducted in the context of this case revealed that the suspects are linked to an international network for smuggling stolen cars that operates according to a criminal method consisting of stealing cars from various European countries before providing them with temporary French license plates, then working to smuggle them and market them in foreign countries, especially African ones.”

According to the site“The suspects were subjected to judicial investigation procedures conducted by the Royal Gendarmerie services in Laayoune under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office in order to determine all possible ramifications of this criminal activity and to arrest all those allegedly involved in this criminal network.”
