Morocco elected first vice-president of the International School Sports Federation

Rabat – Morocco has elected, in the person of the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports Youssef Belkacemi, first vice-president of the International School Sports Federation (ISF), the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Mr. Belkacemi was elected at the ISF general assembly held on May 16 and 17 in Normandy (France), in parallel with the 19th edition of the school Olympic games “Gymnasiade 2022”, which take place from May 14 to 22, by winning 61 votes out of the total votes, which earned him a membership in the management committee and the Executive Committee of the ISF, it was specified.

This prestigious position obtained by Morocco, in addition to its presidency of the African School Sports Federation (FASS), is the result of the great success of the FASS general assembly, hosted by the city of Fez on March 18, 19 and 20, 2022, and the efforts made by the Kingdom at the African level, in the establishment of an African strategy for the promotion of school sports on the continent, the same source stressed.

The position, the statement added, is a recognition of the pioneering role played by the Kingdom at the continental and international levels in general, and in the field of school sports in particular, after winning the African School Football Championship in Kinshasa (DRC) and achieving exceptional performances at the World Cross-Country Championships in Slovakia, capable of strengthening the presence of national school sports at the continental and international levels.
