Organized by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), this event highlighted the diversity of the tourist offer as well as the richness of Moroccan gastronomy and age-old culture, without forgetting the quality of the hotel and transport infrastructure of the Kingdom.
Speaking on this occasion, the Ambassador of His Majesty the King to the People’s Republic of China, Abdelkader El Ansari, reviewed the dynamics of development of the tourism sector over the last 40 years.
He also indicated that the Chinese tourism market has gained importance for Moroccan operators over the last decade, recalling the decision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to exempt Chinese citizens wishing to visit Morocco from visa formalities.
In January 2020, Morocco strengthened this virtuous dynamic by opening a direct Casablanca-Beijing air route, said Mr. El Ansari, noting that this line will be reestablished by Royal Air Maroc (RAM) from January 20, 2025, after having been suspended due to the health crisis.
Morocco offers a diversified tourist offer capable of satisfying the demand of Chinese customers, he said, mentioning cultural, seaside and natural assets, in addition to gastronomy, sport and well-being.
For his part, Hicham Bellaziz, chief representative of the ONMT office in China, presented an overview of Morocco’s tourist attractions, particularly in terms of economic capacities, infrastructure, hotel offerings and material and immaterial cultural wealth.
He also focused on the ONMT action plan for the period 2023-2026, focused on four pillars (marketing, digital, air and distribution).
He placed particular emphasis on the marketing component, which aims to amplify the impact of the international tourism promotion campaign already carried out in 20 countries, under the slogan “Morocco, Kingdom of Light”.
Mr. Bellaziz also announced that ONMT is preparing to launch an online training platform dedicated to existing and potential business partners, which informative and comprehensive platform aims to structure the commercial approach on the Chinese market.
This event was also an opportunity to screen several institutional films highlighting the many tourist attractions that abound in the main Moroccan cities and destinations, as well as the diversity of the Kingdom’s ancestral heritage.
