Signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, and the German Minister of Agriculture and Food, Cem Özdemir, on the sidelines of the International Green Week of Berlin, the agreement is based around organic production and exchanges between the two countries in terms of science, innovation and good agricultural practices.

It was also decided to set up a joint technical working group which will make it possible to deepen and broaden bilateral cooperation in the future, Mr. Sadiki told MAP.

This meeting allowed both parties to address extremely important topics regarding the food system, sustainability and agriculture, the minister added.

For his part, Mr. Özdemir, who described relations with Morocco as “very important”, indicated that the agreement signed today will make it possible to raise the level of bilateral partnership and to exchange knowledge in the field of organic production.

The DIAF project covers three components, namely: the promotion of organic agriculture; the professionalization of professional agricultural and forestry organizations (OPAF) and the improvement of planning and control in the forestry sector.

It aims to strengthen the legal and institutional framework for promoting and monitoring sustainable organic agricultural production, the professionalization of OPAFs and sustainable and multifunctional forest management.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Sadiki spoke with the Italian Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Francesco Lollobrigida, about ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural field.
