This commitment is materialized by ambitious, visionary and strategic investments, like the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline, which will benefit all countries around the Atlantic, underlined Mr. Alj during the 7th edition of the “Morocco Today Forum” (MTF).

This commitment is also materialized by the strong presence of Moroccan economic operators on the continent in sectors such as banking, insurance, telecommunications, agri-food, pharmaceutical industry, construction and real estate, making Morocco the second African investor on the continent, he noted, recalling that Morocco has ratified several cooperation agreements with countries in the region.

“Today, the ambition is to go even further,” he said, noting that the Kingdom wishes to unite the African countries of the Atlantic coast around a common project, that of transforming the economy of this area and making it a credible, resilient and attractive regional grouping for investment and bringing impact to the populations.

The ambition is also to offer more economic integration to the Sahel States, with the countries of the Atlantic coast, continued Mr. Alj, noting that this coast brings together in a single space the main advantages and challenges of the African continent.

“To seize these opportunities and meet these challenges, the key words are cooperation, pooling and economic integration,” he insisted, calling on States to work together and States and the private sectors to join forces.

Furthermore, Mr. Alj said that the Moroccan private sector is fully committed to supporting the Royal Atlantic Coast Initiative, through the promotion of investment and the multiplication of collaborations and partnerships, particularly in infrastructure, renewable energies and food and health sovereignty.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 7th edition of the MTF initiated by the Le Matin Group, in partnership with the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) and the Council of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, aims to discuss the potential, the means to be implemented and the challenges to be met, with a view to realizing the Royal Vision for the development of the Atlantic coast of Africa and the access of the Sahel countries to it.

This international conference, held under the theme “Atlantic Africa, for an integrated, inclusive and prosperous continental region”, also aims to bring together all the stakeholders concerned by this Royal Vision and discuss the challenges to be met for it to become a reality, in order to formulate recommendations that will be recorded in a White Paper.
