El Ghali, who gave a lecture at the Andres Bello University in Santiago, stressed that the major reforms initiated by the Kingdom in the area of ​​promoting human rights, particularly women’s rights, have placed the Morocco in a distinguished position at the regional, continental and international levels.

In front of an audience of academics, researchers, students and media professionals, the Moroccan diplomat placed particular emphasis on the Equity and Reconciliation Authority (IER), considered a model of reconciliation with the past which has allowed us to turn the page on past human rights violations.

In this context, El Ghali recalled the creation of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), the reform of the Family Code and the adoption of a new Constitution, in addition to the adoption of a legal arsenal in the area of ​​consecration of the rule of law, which are all initiatives that have contributed to the consolidation of the foundations of Moroccan democracy, she said.

Stressing that the 2011 Constitution clearly established equal opportunities, El Ghali noted that this text guarantees that men and women enjoy the same political, economic, social, cultural and environmental rights.

The Constitution also provides for the creation of a body responsible for combating all forms of discrimination.

Moroccan diplomacy finally reviewed the most significant achievements of a social nature, in particular the project for the generalization of social protection, considered a real revolution which will contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of citizens and will ensure the protection of groups vulnerable, particularly in a context characterized by economic shocks and health and epidemiological risks.
