Morocco intercepts 52 migrants heading to the Canary Islands

MADRID, 28 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Moroccan Armed Forces reported this Sunday that they have intercepted 52 migrants who were heading to the Canary Islands on a boat.

“Members of a unit in charge of coastal surveillance have intercepted today, Sunday, January 28 (…) a boat that was heading towards the Canary Islands with 52 migrants on board,” the Moroccan Armed Forces explained in a message published in x.

The vessel was intercepted 153 kilometers south of Arkub, in the Dakhla-Ued Edahab region, in Western Sahara. Two women were traveling in it, according to the Hespress portal citing official sources.

The migrants have been treated and subsequently handed over to the Gendarmerie to carry out the mandatory administrative procedures, the source indicated.
