The Moroccan authorities have announced the interception of a boat with more than 30 migrants from sub-Saharan African countries off the coast of the city of Dakhla and added that these people were trying to cover the journey to the Canary Islands.

The General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces has indicated that the boat, carrying 33 people, was intercepted on Wednesday about ten kilometers from the port of Djila, south of Dakhla.

Likewise, he highlighted that those rescued received medical attention on board before being transferred to port and handed over to the Gendarmerie for the corresponding procedures, as reported by the Moroccan state news agency, MAP.

The town of Dakhla, known as Villa Cisneros during the period in which Western Sahara was a Spanish colony, is currently located in the area of ​​​​this territory occupied by Morocco, which declared it the capital of the Dakhla-Río de region. Gold.
