In a statement to MAP, Mr. Daouda stressed that these results and exploits, the latest of which is Morocco’s 1st place at the Francophonie Games in Kinshasa, are not the result of chance but the result of a insightful royal vision, recalling that the Royal Message addressed to the participants in the National Sports Conference, held on October 24 and 25, 2008 in Skhirat, marked a turning point in this area.

He added that this royal desire to promote national sport was manifested by the inauguration by the Sovereign of the Mohammed VI Football Academy, a reference in terms of sports training, which gave a strong signal of the high concern royal towards sport and on the importance of granting particular interest to this area.

According to Mr. Daouda, technical director and head of the development program within the African Athletics Confederation, Morocco is currently reaping the fruits of this far-sighted royal vision, stressing that “as a sporting community, we must believe more in our capacities and our skills, especially since several sporting disciplines have distinguished themselves on a continental and international scale and contribute to the influence of Morocco’s image internationally.

He insisted on the need for all sporting disciplines to follow the same example and fulfill their role in supervising young people while providing them with the necessary human and financial resources, noting that The State has been investing in sport for years through significant sports infrastructure, including high-quality stadiums that meet international standards, in addition to the Kingdom’s ambition to organize the 2030 Football World Cup, with Spain. and Portugal.

This is, he added, a major project which requires the support of all, with intelligence, patriotism and seriousness, values exalted in the speech of His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the accession of the Sovereign to the Throne of His glorious ancestors, and in which HM the King affirmed that “each time that Moroccan youth have had the means to give the full measure of their seriousness and their patriotism, they have fascinated the world with performances of an unprecedented caliber, like the feat accomplished by the National Selection at the last Football World Cup.”

Morocco, we recall, won a total of 58 medals during the 9th edition of the Francophonie Games organized from July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo), thus finishing, for the first time of its history, at the top of the ranking of this sporting and cultural event.

By discipline, Morocco won 42 medals in athletics, 8 in judo, 5 in road cycling, 2 in wrestling and one in ball juggling.
