In an interview given to MAP on the eve of the first Moroccan-Spanish poetic meeting, organized from February 29 to March 2 in Rabat by the House of Poetry in Morocco and the Andalusia-Morocco Friendship Association, Mr. Kadiri added that “the elites of the two countries are the most qualified to be an enlightening model for other actors in the political, economic and commercial fields.”
This first poetic meeting, initiated under the sign “Neighbors in poetry”, aims to strengthen the cultural, poetic and humanitarian dialogue between the poets of Morocco and Spain, in particular from Andalusia, with which “we are linked not only in the past, but also by vital geopolitical destinies,” he said.
“These destinies can be strengthened and have positive effects on both parties, if efforts at communication, understanding and dialogue between intellectuals, poets and artists are intensified through mutual exchanges, regular visits and joint meetings capable of better understanding current issues and the challenges of the future,” Mr. Kadiri further explained.
Dwelling on the significance of the theme of this meeting, he underlined that Morocco and Andalusia are neighbors of a singular nature, linked by a “neighborhood which goes beyond geography. We can perceive the lights of Andalusia from Sour Al Maâgazine of Tangier”.
It is a historical, cultural and poetic neighborhood. “Andalusia is present in Morocco through its gardens, its parks, its gastronomy, its music, its mouachahates and its zajal, just as Morocco is deeply present in Andalusia, through its heritage, its architecture, its mosques, its poets, its Sufis and its mystics”, continued the president of the House of Poetry in Morocco.
The choice of this slogan shows the “broad conception” of the neighborhood which connects Morocco to its northern neighbor, he further argued, adding that it is “an openness which can only be expressed poetically and through poetry, and which is not limited only to the poem which is written here or there and which migrates between the two shores, but also encompasses poetry as a sign of encounter with the breath of life, merging with the man, nature and the universe.
He also noted that this first poetic meeting has a particular significance given that it comes a few days after the visit of the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, to Morocco.
“It is as if she transmitted to us an essential message according to which the political dimension is not complete without the cultural and poetic dimension,” Mr. Kadiri further indicated.
Regarding the opportunities to be taken advantage of on the occasion of the joint organization – with Portugal – of the 2030 Football World Cup to serve heritage, arts and culture in the region, he noted that culture, on both shores of the Mediterranean, will face a great challenge as this major sporting event approaches.
In his eyes, culture is called to test all its capacities and potentialities to “become a messenger for the promotion of the values of dialogue, not only between the three host countries of this important event (Morocco-Spain-Portugal), but also between the five continents which will converge on the Mediterranean basin for the football competition.
“In this context, as a cultural fabric, we can exploit this opportunity to publicize our history, our arts and our Mediterranean heritage within which Moroccan and Andalusian heritage occupies an important place,” he said.
“The success of our country with its partners, Spain and Portugal, will be significant in going beyond the simple organizational dimension, to present our Mediterranean cultural model, constantly based on diversity, tolerance and respect for difference,” he said. -he said.
For the president of the House of Poetry in Morocco, the best way to achieve this is to make known “our culture and our civilization anchored in history, and which have lived between the two shores of Morocco and Andalusia in a climate of friendship and harmony between religions and cultures.
