This is a new step taken between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, which have accelerated their cooperation, particularly in the economic and investment sectors, noted Mr. Védie in a statement to MAP.

With this Royal visit, the “exceptional” relationship uniting the two countries takes on a new dimension, underlines the economist, highlighting the “unprecedented” economic benefits of the memoranda of understanding signed in key sectors, such as renewable energies and food security.

In this sense, he said that these memoranda will allow this excellent relationship to begin a new phase through significant investments, capable of guaranteeing synergy between the two countries, particularly in the renewable energy sector, where Morocco is “a leader”.

And to note that the visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI is part of a shared development and a common ambition to move forward and further enrich a long-standing, strategic and deep-rooted partnership between the two countries.

This partnership essentially concerns three aspects, namely the development of Afro-Atlantic relations with very important projects on the Atlantic coast, particularly in Dakhla (the Dakhla Gateway Africa development and planning project, the Dakhla Atlantic port mega-project and the Dakhla hub airport) as well as the creation and management of the maritime commercial fleet between the two countries, Mr. Védie observed.

The second part is linked to the development of renewable energies, particularly the transport of electricity, while the third part concerns a partnership focused on food security, the economist said.

These are “very heavy” investments in financial terms that are long-term, he added, noting that thanks to these agreements and this renewed partnership, the two countries can open up to other horizons and develop projects open to the international market.

While emphasizing the “strategic vision” of HM the King and HH Sheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane, Mr. Védie underlined the principle of reciprocity and complementarity which drives the two countries in the implementation of their projects.
