The Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, hopes that this summit will issue five main messages to the international community, Mr. Bourita said in a speech delivered on the occasion of the “Peace Summit”, adding that the first message is a call to reduce escalation, to stop bloodshed and military aggression, and to spare the region the horrors of a conflict that risks destroying what remains of the chances of peace and stability.

The second message, Mr. Bourita continued, concerns the urgent need to protect civilians and not target them, in accordance with the principles of international law, international humanitarian law and common human values, while the third concerns the obligation to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid, quickly and smoothly, and in sufficient quantity for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip.

The fourth message concerns the rejection of all solutions and ideas aimed at displacing or deporting Palestinians from their territory and endangering the security of neighboring countries, he said.

The fifth message, the minister concluded, relates to the imperative of launching a genuine peace process that leads to the two-state solution, a Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with the State of Israel.

The work of the “Peace Summit” began Saturday morning in the new administrative capital near Cairo. His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, is represented at this Summit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

The Summit involves the participation of 30 countries, the United Nations and three regional organizations, in a joint effort to reduce the escalation in Gaza, protect civilians, open security corridors and allow the entry of humanitarian aid.
