In a statement to MAP, the Secretary General of the Spanish Committee of the Pan-European Union, stressed that the signing, during this “successful visit”, of 12 memoranda in different areas “will undoubtedly contribute to accelerating the economic and social development programme for the years 2024-2029, in favour of a comprehensive, harmonious and integrated development of the entire country.”

“This royal visit to the United Arab Emirates will give a strong boost to bilateral relations and lay the foundations for a comprehensive model of economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, and the framework of a pragmatic and concrete approach,” stressed Mr. Uriarte Sánchez, noting that “this historic partnership between the two countries is based on active solidarity and a commitment to a mutually beneficial partnership.”

“This partnership concerns various important infrastructure projects in both transport and the tourism sector,” he added, describing the memoranda signed between the two countries as “unprecedented new-generation agreements.”

For the Spanish academic, one of the unique characteristics of this “renewed strategic” partnership is its “multidimensional” character covering all areas, and which can have “beneficial multiplier effects”, especially in the Afro-Atlantic space.

“I am convinced that this partnership can also have very positive effects at the regional and international levels. The Dakhla Gateway Africa development and planning project, the Dakhla Atlantique port megaproject and the Dakhla hub airport are concrete examples. They are intended to contribute to the development of Africa,” he added.
