Morocco’s airports: a record of more than 15 million passengers welcomed at the end of June (ONDA)
Casablanca – Morocco’s Airports recorded a new record of 15,104,579 passengers welcomed during the first six months of 2024, up 19% compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA).
This growth concerns the majority of airports, including Rabat-Salé (+40%), Agadir (+34%), Marrakech (+29%), Tetouan (+23%), Tangier (+21%) and Fez (+12%), the Office indicates in a press release.
According to the same source, domestic traffic reached 1,531,191 passengers received in the first half of this year, an improvement of 22% compared to the same period in 2023.
International air traffic, meanwhile, recorded an increase of 19% compared to H1-2023, or 13,573,388 passengers welcomed. This development is attributed to the good performances of the markets of Europe (+20%), Africa (+16%) and the Middle and Far East (+15%).
ONDA also reported 111,783 aircraft movements at the end of June, an increase of 15% compared to the same period a year earlier. Mohammed V airport represents 35% of this traffic, Marrakech Menara 26% and Agadir Al Massira 9%.
As for air freight, it recorded an increase of 24% to 46,209 tonnes during the first half of 2024.
