In an interview with MAP, on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of Gitex Africa Morocco, Ms. Mezzour indicated that Morocco’s hosting of this international event will help attract new investments to Morocco and pave the way for participating companies to access new markets, noting that this event reflects the particular interest that Morocco has in the socio-economic development of the African continent.

“Today, Africa must be a producer of the latest digital technologies,” she continued, noting that the African continent has young people qualified in the digital field, which will make it possible, through the various activities of this Exhibition, to identify the solutions developed by African companies, to consolidate South-South cooperation and to benefit from experiences, in favor of the development of the continent.

In this wake, the minister noted that the Digital Morocco Strategy 2030, announced Wednesday in Marrakech by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, will be launched in the coming weeks.

This strategy aims to accelerate the process of digitalization of public services, so that they can become easy, simple and transparent for citizens, especially since it aims to develop the digital economy of Morocco, through the outsourcing sector, she continued.

This strategy is based on three pillars, namely human skills, telecommunications infrastructure and cloud services, she said, noting in this sense that Morocco has significant qualified human resources in the digital field, which will be further strengthened through the training of young people in the different regions of the Kingdom in the digital field.

Furthermore, Ms. Mezzour announced that her department proceeded today, on the sidelines of the Show, to the signing of a partnership agreement with the world leader in information technologies “Oracle”, relating to the establishment of a developed cloud services center, the first of its kind in North Africa.

Mobilizing a total investment of 1.4 billion Dirhams, this center will provide highly developed cloud services linked to artificial intelligence, as well as various digital solutions, with a view to accelerating the process of digital transformation in Morocco and Africa, she added.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Gitex Africa, which sees the participation of more than 1,500 exhibitors, representing more than 130 countries, aims to be a hub promoting exchanges on the latest technological developments, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, health and cybersecurity.
