The residences of the Community of Madrid were the hardest hit during the first wave of the pandemic, with 9,468 deaths during the months of March and April 2020, in the 470 centers that were operational at that time. This figure includes both the residents who died from Covid and those who died from other causes and are official figures provided by the regional government itself through the Transparency Portal.

Now, a study published in the journal “Epidemiology” that has analyzed the impact of mortality according to the ownership (public or private) and the management of residences (public, indirect, concerted, private) reveals that mortality was higher in the residences of public ownership and private management -called “indirect management”-, maximum exponent of what is known as a model of public-private collaboration.
