Mosaic 2.0 grant for research into timely treatment of asymptomatic heart failure

by time news

The research – the TREASURE trial – is part of the Queen of Hearts research and is being conducted under the supervision of Prof. Marc Spaanderman and Dr. Chahinda Ghossein-Doha.

Timely treatment of asymptomatic heart failure
Women who develop preeclampsia (PE) have a two- to seven-fold increased risk of cardiovascular disease at a relatively young age. PE is characterized by an unhealthy thickening of the heart muscle. This thickening leads to constriction of the heart that does not disappear after pregnancy in almost half of the cases. The blood pressure hormone angiotensin plays a very important role in the development of this form of heart failure. With the TREASURE trial we want to treat this early form of heart failure through timely treatment with angiotensin inhibitors.
