The Moscow Transport Department will test alco locks on 10 official cars, according to the Moscow Transport website.

An alcohol lock is a device that prevents the driver from starting the car until he has passed the breathalyzer test. The Department of Transport clarified that alcolocks have been used for several years in foreign countries, in particular, the USA and Sweden.

In May 2021, the deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vasily Shpak, said that the department was discussing with the traffic police the idea of ​​forcibly equipping the cars of drivers who were at least once brought to administrative responsibility for drunk driving with alcohol locks. Moreover, drivers will have to equip their cars with such devices at their own expense.
