Moshe Peretz supplies the goods; Idan Raichel is disappointing Hot in the ear

by time news

“From Thessaloniki to Lipo” is the name of Moshe Peretz’s new song, an original song sung half in Hebrew and half in Greek, of the quiet ballad type, intoxicating the senses with its bouzouki sound and Peretz’s performance.

Bashir Peretz goes for his safe and comfortable place, as he is known as an experienced ballad singer (just as he is an experienced hafelut singer) and chose this time to forego new or overly adventurous musical experimentation and go for the safe formula for a hit that can be played at weddings, concerts and road trips.

Although he sings in Greek without the authentic range of words, it doesn’t matter (Eris Sun and Tryphons also sang in Hebrew) because the whole romantic atmosphere in the song, the catchy melody and the kitsch text – provide the goods well.

Idan Reichel embraced a new romantic ballad of his own – “You”, a song he wrote and composed, and although it is embedded in his well-known DNA, but in my eyes, from his more boring songs, the melody and performance are rather hypnotic and the song does not develop too much.

There is no doubt that Reichel is one of the greatest talents in our regions and has many rights in Israeli music (and quite a few classics as well), so I was more disappointed because I was expecting a song that would make the heart enthusiastic, for his strengths and abilities to reach the limit, but the end result is far from expectations. A miss in my opinion.

In contrast to Reichel, Ili Butner and the children of the night launched this week an excellent new song – “Maybe”, a kicking rock song of the band’s familiar and well-known type, with a wonderful solo by Eder Gold, a song whose sophisticated text shows the longing of its protagonist for the embrace of her lover, and yet she So strong to admit that through the shell of courage she is a person who needs love, like everyone, experiences the agonizing loneliness and fears and longs for its return. The song is excellently made, also in terms of the musical production and the bouncy melody, also the great and powerful performance and the message. Ili Butner and the foreign children at their best.

Stupid and forced rhyme, idiotic lyrics, technical and emotionless performance, a melody that sounds like an imitation of a million other melodies in the same style and a lack of point make up Louie Ali’s new song “Dabka”, which, apart from the bouncy and sloppy arrangement that softens the blow a bit – is one of the worst songs released this year the current one.

“Finally Really” by Daniel Rubin is the ultimate thanksgiving song for what life throws at us, home, piano, love, health, friends. She is not utopian and disconnected from reality but knows that at some point there is also sadness, loss and ‘pains’ that reality may impose, but she knows that as long as she has what she needs, she will get through it, fight and with the help of the love in her heart she will also win.

This simple and so deep text, Yogev Glossman’s excellent musical production that gives Robin’s wonderful and pleasant voice the place it deserves to express itself and the melody that serves the words well – embroider a song that succeeds in achieving its goal – to do good in the heart. By the way, this is the first single from a second album on the way. In light of this song, I guess there is something to look forward to.
