The Global Peace Index (GPI) has released a report of the worst-affected countries in the world. It has been prepared on the basis of the security of nations, serious conflict, political instability and humanitarian crisis. GPI evaluates 163 countries every year on 23 indicators. This includes internal conflict, social security and level of militarization, which provides a comprehensive assessment of global peace and security. After the evaluation, this year’s list of the most dangerous countries has been given.
According to ET’s report, GPI has placed Yemen at the top of the list of the world’s most dangerous countries this year. That is, Yemen is considered the country with the worst condition. With a GPI score of 3.397, Yemen is one of the most dangerous countries in the world. Since the civil war that began in 2015, the country has been facing large-scale famine, disease and collapse of infrastructure. Sudan comes after Yemen. 2 million people have been displaced due to continuous conflict in areas like Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile of Sudan. South Sudan has been facing many challenges since its independence in 2011. The country is among the dangerous countries in the world with a GPI score of 3.324.
Afghanistan is also in a bad condition
Afghanistan is one of the most dangerous countries in the world this year as well with a GPI score of 3.294. Terrorism, kidnappings and widespread violence have made Afghanistan a focal point of international concern. The fifth name on this list is Ukraine. Ukraine’s security and stability have deteriorated drastically since the Russian invasion began in February 2022. The destruction of vital infrastructure has led to a major humanitarian crisis in the country. Russia is also suffering the ill effects of this war and has come on the list of dangerous countries. Russia’s GPI score of 3.249 in 2024 shows how this country is also not a good place to live.
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is battling the deadliest conflict in African history. According to the International Rescue Committee, the violence that has been going on for more than four and a half years has claimed more lives than any other conflict since World War II.
