Most fruits and vegetables are increasing in price on the exchanges

A minimal decrease in the prices of some basic food products and at the same time an increase in the prices of most fruits and vegetables were observed during the past week, according to the data in the weekly bulletin of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT), reported BTA.

The market price index (CPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, rose by 0.68 percent to 2,079 points during the week. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2.065 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Greenhouse cucumbers rose in price by 10.6 percent to BGN 3.10 per kilogram, and tomatoes from open areas – by 10.2 percent to BGN 1.75 per kilogram. The price of red peppers rose by 3.1 percent to BGN 1.91 per kilogram, and the price of green peppers decreased by 1.7 percent to BGN 1.72 per kilogram.

Potatoes are more expensive by 4.4 percent and are traded at BGN 1.13 per kilogram, and carrots by 3.5 percent to BGN 1.17 per kilogram. The price of cabbage is also up – by 7.9 percent to BGN 1.12 per kilogram. Ripe onions became cheaper by 1.5 percent to BGN 1.07 per kilogram.

The price of lemons is higher by 7.5 percent to 3.72 leva per kilogram, as well as that of bananas – by 1.1 percent to 2.74 leva per kilogram. Peaches also rose in price – by 8.1 percent to BGN 2.17 per kilogram. Only watermelons and grapes are cheaper – respectively by 4 and 6 percent to BGN 0.62 and BGN 2.34 per kilogram.

The price of cow’s cheese rose by 0.9 percent to BGN 11.33 per kilogram, while the price of “Vitosha” cheese decreased by 0.1 percent to BGN 16.82 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) becomes cheaper by 2.2 percent and it is bought at BGN 1.22 per bucket of 400 grams, and fresh milk (3 percent fat content) – by 0.2 percent to 2 .32 BGN per liter.

The price of chicken meat is up by 1.4 percent and becomes BGN 6.39 per kilogram, while eggs (size M) remain unchanged and are offered at BGN 0.30 per piece wholesale.

Rice is cheaper by 0.2 percent to BGN 3.30 per kilogram, lentils by 0.3 percent and is BGN 4.42 per kilogram, ripe beans by 2.2 percent to BGN 4.30 per kilo.

Sugar became cheaper by 1 percent and was traded at BGN 2.04 per kilogram. Oil also fell – by 1.2 percent to BGN 2.81 per liter, and flour type 500 – by 3.9 percent to BGN 1.27 per kilogram. The price of cow’s butter (packet of 125 grams) rises by 0.5 percent to BGN 2.78 per piece.
