A Timeless Tune Tops the Charts

The achievement arrives as Vasconcellos celebrates the 30th anniversary of his album, “Toque,” with a series of concerts nationwide. “Las Seis” dethroned Los Bunkers’ “Bailando Solo,” which led the 2024 rankings with 11,956 plays, falling to second place in 2025 with 11,956 plays.
Vasconcellos expressed his gratitude, citing inspiration from Coquimbo and musical figures Hernán Gallardo and Patricio Zúñiga “Tommy Rey.” He also emphasized the positive impact of music and dance on mental well-being, viewing the recognition as a collective honor.
National Anthems and Rising Stars
The ranking reveals a strong preference for classic and beloved Chilean songs. Following “Las Seis,” “Por la Carretera” by Los Vásquez secured third place with 11,684 plays, while “Tattoo” by Grupo Zúmbale Primo and “Tren al Sur” by Los Prisioneros followed closely with 11,595 and 11,334 plays, respectively. The Chilean Society of Musical Authors and Performers (SCD) monitors radio programming across more than 400 stations using the Vericast system. This data is crucial for copyright distribution and ensuring compliance with the “20% Law,” which mandates a minimum of Chilean music on the radio. In 2025, 60.5% of stations met this requirement, with an average of 24.9% of airtime dedicated to national music.
SCD President Rodrigo Osorio noted that the data indicates stable radio programming, with Chilean music consistently accounting for around 25% of airplay. He also highlighted the potential for increased representation of Chilean artists, given the country’s strong support for local music on digital platforms, where 37% of music consumption is Chilean.
