Most vegetables and fruits and some basic foodstuffs became cheaper on the markets in our country during the week, according to the data in the weekly bulletin of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT).

The market price index (MPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, decreased by a minimal 0.05 percent to 2,033 points during the week. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2,034 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Of the vegetables, green peppers became cheaper the most – by 10.6 percent to BGN 2.27 per kilogram. Potatoes fell by 5.4 percent to BGN 1.01 per kilogram, cabbage by 6.8 percent to BGN 0.79 per kilogram. By 0.8 percent, carrots and greenhouse cucumbers are cheaper, which are traded at BGN 1.18 and BGN 2.77 per kilogram.

The price of imported cucumbers rose by 5.6 percent to BGN 2.47 per kilogram, greenhouse tomatoes – by 10.9 percent to BGN 2.41 per kilogram, ripe onions – by 1.9 percent up to BGN 1.19 per kilogram.

Melons became cheaper by 19.3 percent and are available at BGN 1.36 per kilogram wholesale, and watermelons by 1.8 percent to BGN 0.76 per kilogram. Bananas decreased by 2.4 percent to BGN 2.68 per kilogram, and lemons rose by 2.3 percent to BGN 2.99 per kilogram.

The price of peaches decreased by 0.2 percent to BGN 2.44 per kilogram, and apricots increased by 5.9 percent to BGN 2.94 per kilogram.

Cow’s cheese became cheaper by 0.2 percent to BGN 10.88 per kilogram, and “Vitosha” type cheese – by 1 percent and was traded at BGN 17.03 per kilogram.

The price of yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) is reduced by 2.3 percent and it is bought at BGN 1.20 per bucket of 400 grams, while the price of fresh milk (3 percent fat content) – rises by 0.1 percent to BGN 2.25 per liter.

Chicken meat is down by 4.3 percent and is available at BGN 6.33 per kilogram. Eggs (size M) rose in price by 7.4 percent to BGN 0.29 per piece wholesale.

The price of rice rose by 1 percent to BGN 3.30 per kilogram, and that of lentils by 1.6 percent to BGN 4.38 per kilogram. Ripe beans rose in price by 0.7 percent to BGN 4.25 per kilogram.

Sugar also saw a price increase – by 0.6 percent and traded at BGN 2.02 per kilogram, while oil fell by 1.4 percent to BGN 2.73 per liter. The price of type 500 flour fell by 6.3 percent to BGN 1.21 per kilogram. Cow butter (packet of 125 grams) rises by 0.8 percent to BGN 2.62 per unit.
